Dr.Heywood joined our group in 2002. A specialist in laparoscopic and thoracic procedures, with subspecialties in vascular and general surgery, Dr. Heywood received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1988. He then completed his internship and residency at the University of Illinois – OSF Saint Francis in Peoria and was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1995. Dr.Heywood was in private practice for nine years in Macomb, Illinois, where he also served as chair of the Cancer Committee and Department of Surgery. Formerly president of the medical staff at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Dr.Heywood is currently serving on the Board of the Peoria Medical Society.
