Dr. Brian Heywood joined Mid Illini Surgical Associates in 2002.  A Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Heywood received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. Completed residency in Peoria through the University Of Illinois College of Medicine at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.  He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois of College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois.

A specialist in laparoscopic procedures and a sub specialist in vascular services, Dr. Heywood also serves as the Trauma Surgeon Director for Methodist Medical Center Emergency Department. He has served as President for the Peoria Medical Society and continues to serve on that board.

Dr. Heywood is an Active Staff member of Methodist Medical Center, OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Pekin Hospital and Proctor Hospital.

A native of Wisconsin, Dr. Heywood and his wife, Shannon, reside in Peoria and proud parents of four children.
